The easiest method to Delete a HP Printer Driver & Install a New Driver

A "driver" is the software that tells a computer's operating system just how to talk to a device like a monitor, mouse, or printer. When you attach a new piece of hardware, the driver may install automatically (plug and play) or you may have to insert a CD with the driver to complete the installation. If there is a problem with the device, one method to try to fix it is to delete the driver and install a new one.

1 Navigate to "Control Panel" and then "Printers and Faxes" to select the HP Printer.

2 Press the "Delete" key to delete the HP Printer Driver. It is also a good idea to uninstall any software that came with the printer by navigating to "Start," "All Programs," "HP" and "Uninstall."

3 Visit the HP support site (see Resources for URL) and search for your printer model. Download the latest driver for your HP printer model to your preferred folder.

4 Install the driver by double-clicking on the downloaded file.

5 Plug in your HP printer and turn it on to confirm the driver is successfully installed. Print a test page by navigating to "Control Panel," "Printers and Faxes" and "HP Printer." Right click and select "Print Test Page."
